“Imagine that everything you see, feel and hear in three dimensions (and your perception of time) in fact emanates from a flat two-dimensional field. The idea is similar to that of ordinary holograms where a three-dimensional image is encoded in a two-dimensional surface, such as in the hologram on a credit card. However, this time, the entire universe is encoded,“ Professor Kostas Skenderis of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
What does this mean, exactly? That all of the information from our 3-dimensional reality can be included on a 2-dimensional surface; similar to how one perceives things as 3-dimensional in the cinema, with perception of depth, when it is all on a 2 dimensional screen.
Conclusions we can draw from this:
- The Earth is flat, since the universe is 2-dimensional
- All waifus are 2-dimensional; therefore the 2d vs 3d argument is now obsolete
